5 Great Cheap Date Ideas That Won’t Break the Bank

If money is tight, then you may need some cheap date ideas. Just because you are limited on funds doesn’t mean you can’t take someone special out for a good time. Love is not measured by money. The key is being creative and coming up with original ideas that your date will enjoy. Consider the following cheap date ideas and see how you can personalize them without breaking the bank.

Cheap Date Idea 1: An Afternoon Picnic in the Sun

There is something intoxicating about the outdoors.  Most communities maintain beautiful natural parks that can make the perfect setting for a lovely afternoon together. Before going, make sure you scout the area out and look for a nice, clean place for your picnic. Some parks see a lot of vandalism and there may be debris and graffiti issues. Another option is to visit state parks. These are natural areas protected by your state. In both cases, access to picnic areas is generally free so you only have to supply the picnic food.

Cheap Date Idea 2: An Evening of Star Gazing

Star gazing is one of the most romantic things you can do together, making it one of the best cheap date ideas. If you live in a suburban or rural area, you may be able to star gaze right in your back yard.  Manmade lighting from urban areas might make star gazing difficult, so consider a journey into the country side.  Try to plan a star gazing location before the date so you aren’t left driving around with nowhere to stop and enjoy the view.

Cheap Date Idea 3: A Swim at the Beach or Lake

If you live close to the beach or a lake, why not use that location as one of your cheap date ideas? Many natural waterways have public swimming areas that require no fees to access. All you need to do is put on a bathing suit, grab a towel and start the date. Keep in mind that certain seasons and days of the week may draw large crowds to these swimming areas that could interfere with the intimacy of your date. Beaches are also great places for a stroll during the cooler months.

Cheap Date Idea 4: Free Music Concerts

Some cities host free music concerts. These are usually outdoor events with lawn seating.  If you see a concert that features music you and your date enjoy, consider planning a visit to a free concert. Remember to bring a blanket or lawn chairs so you can both relax and enjoy the music in comfort.

Cheap Date Idea 5: A Winter Date in the Snow

During the winter season, sled riding might be another good cheap date idea. You can do it anywhere, all you need is snow, a hill and a sled.  Go in the garage or shed and dig out your old sleds. Even if you do not have children, you can have a lot of fun gliding through the snow together. Community parks in your area may have hills dedicated to sled riding. A winter outing can also be a cheap date.
