Yahoo Personals

Yahoo Personals has been around for quite a long time, or rather had been around. The site saw numerous users and underwent a redesign in 2007 to bring it up to speed with the competition. Yahoo’s dating site was one of the earliest incarnations of this type of service to emerge on the internet. Yahoo’s well-known name drew a lot of interest during the website’s heyday.

Anyone who has used Yahoo Personals is probably already aware that the site is no longer operating under Yahoo.  An announcement was made that the site would officially closed down on July 21st, 2010.  Approximately two months earlier, Yahoo Personals users were given the option of moving their profile to the site’s new partner, Match.com. Match would be taking over Yahoo Personals and essentially absorb its user base. Email and profiles would no longer be accessible between July 21st and January 19th. After January 19th, 2011, user would also no longer be able to move their profiles to Match.

The Look of Yahoo Personals

Although technically Yahoo Personals no longer exists, users can find a personals website still standing in its place. This site provides detail instructions on date deadlines and what previous users should do about their dating profiles. Although the original Yahoo Personals is no more; many previous and new users can discover a great deal of potential using its partner site, Match.com. A link to Match.com is also found on the old Yahoo Personals website.  Other than that, the site is relatively empty with no new content added. It is safe to assume that no further information will be added due to the official closing of Yahoo Personals.

Yahoo Personals Community

Yahoo Personals originally built a diverse community of users in all ages. Even though the original Yahoo dating website is gone, the community is still out there.  All users were given the option of moving their Yahoo Personals profile to Match.com.  The deadline for moving profiles has passed, so the Yahoo community has officially merged with Match.com. Match is known for maintaining community that covers a wide variety of age groups, ethnicities, religions and locations. Previous Yahoo Personals who wish to rejoin the old community can do so by creating an account on the Match.com website.
